I was very kindly invited onto a pheasant shoot today. This is something I have done a few times, but this particular shoot was in a different league to anything I have done before.
In total 8 guns accounted for over 220 birds on 5 drives and I must say the adrenalin rush as the birds come into your line of fire matches anything I have ever experienced in fishing.
The weather was fantastic, the scenery wonderful and the company even better. I must admit to feeling a bit intimadated at first as I imagined that a fair amount of snobbery can be associated with this sport. However I am gald to say this fear was totally without foundation and everyone had a great laugh, with only a little mickey taking at my lack of expertise.
In the end I think i managed to hit about 15 birds out of probably 75 efforts, a strike rate similar to my ratio of hitting bites on the stick float, something I hope to be doing next week.
